Fall Painting

Stayed inside all day during a recent snow storm. Wishing it was fall. Going through my "How's Your Aspen" photos I found this one to paint. It is acrylic and mixed media. The aspen trunk and branches were first made on the canvas with Golden molding paste to give them a rough texture. The painting is 30" wide by 22" on wrapped 1" edge canvas. I'm calling it "Feeling Fallish".

Plein Air Painting Estes Park

I spent Thursday, Aug. 27, painting at Kathy Goodale's home in Estes Park, and Friday, painting in Rocky Mountain Nat. Park. Saturday morning went to the Estes Park Plein Air Quick Draw & Auction and watched as about 50 artists painted a scene in 90 minutes. Attached is a painting I completed in the park Friday on the Storm Pass Trail. The painting is of Hallett Peak.

Another canyon painting

I've completed another canyon painting, mostly made up from places I've seen. Oil on board, 9X12. Went to critique night at Michael Untiedt's and as a result, changed my fence posts in the foreground. Anyway I like the sky and red mesas. Michael's link www.michaelomeuntiedt.com

Almost Finished Paintings

These are the two paintings finished in the workshop. We went to Cook Park. The paintings are oil on 9" X 12" masonite board. Four colors were used: ultra marine blue and cad yellow to make all the greens, white and burnt sienna.

Plein Air Workshop

These are four quick sketches/paintings (4"x8") of the scenes at Cook Park. The sketches were done to look for shapes and values (lights and darks).
